From Resume to Revenue (Veteran-Friendly)

Translate experience into a clear opportunity, a truthful profile update and a small work sample.

Your practical result

A skills-to-opportunity map, one revised profile section and a work-sample brief with a realistic next action.

The outline below is built around this result. Final tools and setup instructions will be confirmed with the session details before registration opens.

Who this is for

Veterans and career changers exploring how existing skills could support a job or a service offering.

What you’ll practice

  • Translate responsibilities into specific, supportable skills and examples.
  • Compare an employment direction with a potential service opportunity.
  • Draft a truthful profile revision and define a work sample that demonstrates a relevant skill.

Your two-hour workshop outline

A guided demonstration, a substantial build exercise, and time to check the result. Times are approximate and include discussion.

  1. 0–10 min

    Choose a direction

Identify one possible job or customer problem and the experience that connects to it.

  2. 10–30 min

    Translate experience

See examples of military and civilian responsibilities rewritten as clear, factual skills.

  3. 30–45 min

    Map the evidence

List the examples you can support and mark any gaps that need a work sample.

  4. 45–85 min

    Build an opportunity packet

Revise one profile section and draft a small work-sample brief around one target opportunity.

  5. 85–105 min

    Review for accuracy

Remove invented achievements, check the language and ask whether the sample proves the intended skill.

  6. 105–120 min

    Choose a next action

Define a manageable follow-up, such as finishing the sample or requesting a relevant conversation.

Before you attend

  • A laptop and a short, non-sensitive description of your experience.
